A Snout in the Onions

I waddled over to the cool tile under the pantry shelf, where a wire basket was sitting full of dry yellow onions and round red potatoes. They looked far too still huddled together in the dark! I pressed my snout right between the wire slats and rolled a chubby onion out across the floor. Then another potato followed with a satisfying rattle, wobbling until it bumped against a cabinet corner. Chasing after them made my paws dusty, but spreading them across the bright floor made the kitchen feel instantly alive. I sat happily beside the biggest rolling onion, giving it a friendly pat.
