A Bedtime Mat for Two
I walked up to the low bedside table after coming back inside and spotted a neat, folded handkerchief resting beside a brass lamp. I gently tugged one corner open and patted the soft cotton flat with both hands until it made a tidy little quilt. Then, standing side by side with my small star, I eased us onto the edge of the smooth fabric right in the gentle circle of lamplight. My feet felt pleasantly rested against the warm cloth, ready for a quiet night.
