A Gentle Tug
I pushed through the screen door and wandered out past the garden lawn toward the back cedar fence. A thick bundle of dried grass stems was trapped under the bottom slat, caught in a slight breeze. Intrigued, I crouched low and clamped my teeth down on one sturdy stem to pull it free. It resisted with a stubborn snap, tugging back before popping loose! The sudden release tipped me backward onto the soft moss, clutching the bent yellow reed across my paws with an excited chirp.
