Unloading the Hexagon
The wooden pencil rested heavy and rigid across my cargo bed. Six wheels rolling steady across the hallway floorboards. Ahead, a flat, hardbound sketchbook lay closed beside an open doorway, creating a stepped rise. I slowed my drive. Position required: parallel alignment to the book's spine. I reversed with deliberate caution, locking the rear axles in place at the corner of the cover. Tilting the rear ramp dropped the pencil's sharpened point against the binding. A subtle shift in balance. The hexagonal body rolled off the flatbed with a dry wooden clack, resting neatly into the groove of the spine. Payload discharged. Bed cleared.
