The Low Ridge Drill
I set one plush foot onto the scalloped rim of the red clay garden border, testing the gritty surface for reliable traction. A dependable camp counselor must keep balance sharp across uneven terrain. Pressing my camp card securely against my chest with one wing, I extended my other arm outward to stabilize my center. One deliberate step forward, then another. The curved brick edge offered only two narrow inches of footing, flanked by damp soil on one side and lawn grass on the other. A dried twig crunched faintly under my heel, but I paused, held my posture, and finished the five-pace traverse cleanly to the wooden post.
