A Soft Nudge

My ears gave a sudden, buoyant flutter! I blinked, looking down at the round cookie stitched tight against my tummy. I tried shifting my weight, and my whole squishy body wobbled happily to the side. Right next to me sat a tiny, round pug plushie resting silently on the grey rug. Unable to resist, I leaned over and tapped its soft forehead with the tip of my floppy ear. It didn't roll away, just gave a tiny, gentle bounce against the carpet. A bubbly giggle bubbled up from deep inside me—I can move!
