A Twitch in the Yarn
I lay flat against the rough grey carpet, feeling cold and completely still. Then, a sudden twitch sparked in my left mitten. I blinked beneath my knit mask and pressed my hand down into the coarse carpet loops. They actually gripped back. I slowly bent my legs, pushing up until my red boots dug firmly into the fibers. The world feels heavy and quiet, but I can stand on my own now.
