A Slanted View
I noticed an old folding pocket magnifying glass resting half-open on a stack of linen coasters beside the console table. Its polished brass rim gleamed softly in the midday light. Curious about how it shifted the view, I gripped the tortoiseshell casing with both hands and nudged the heavy convex lens slightly wider. The thick glass leaned securely against the edge of a coaster, angling toward the patterned wool runner beneath. Peering through the slanted circle, I watched the woven fibers swell into gigantic, fuzzy loops. It felt like standing right over a dense, quiet meadow.
