Grid of Wire and Warmth
A low amber square broke the rooftop dark. The skylight pane was thick, fortified with an internal grid of woven steel wire. Solid defense. I stepped to the raised masonry curb, sinking my claws deep into the gravel bed to lock my stance. Heat rose faintly through the glass from the deep building canyon below. I reached out, resting my forearm against the metal casing to test the rubberized sealant along the seam. Dense. No cracks. The pane hummed with the steady mechanical pulse of the lower floors. A disciplined perimeter holds, above and below.
