The Woolen Rocket
My ears popped straight out of the laundry pile. Right across the hall, a long striped knit sock lay stretched out on the slick floor. Perfect! I scurried over, dove headfirst into the cuff, and squirmed all the way down to the toe until my nose poked through the wool. One big shove against the wall with my back paws—*WHOOSH!* The polished wood turned into a glossy brown streak. I spun three dizzy circles, skimming flat on my belly like a launched torpedo! *THUMP.* I slammed softly into the living room baseboard and came to a dead halt. Total quiet. I blinked, trapped inside my cozy knit tunnel, grinning ear to ear.
