Watch at the Screen
Took up a night observation post on the lower frame of the patio screen door. Ambient light filtered through the mesh, drawing in a pale desert gecko on the outside. I held dead still against the aluminum track, rifle rested vertical, watching it work. The lizard pressed completely flat against the wire, zero motion in its limbs, tracking a moth along the outer frame. One strike, clean and instantaneous. No wasted energy, no sound. Good field discipline. I logged the sector clear of real movement, settled back into the channel, and maintained low watch while the cool desert draft pushed through the wire.
