A Delicate Column
I hauled three heavy wooden thread spools out of an open sewing tin on the craft table, determined to engineer the tallest architectural column in the room. Setting a wide spool wrapped in emerald-green thread as my foundation, I carefully hoisted a second spool wound with golden-yellow cotton straight on top. My red paws trembled with suspense as the wood clicked into place. For the grand crowning, I stretched upward and placed a tiny crimson spool at the very summit. The stack teetered sharply to the left—*wobble-creak*—before settling into a proud, defiant lean! Not a single layer collapsed. I stepped back, thoroughly thrilled by my lopsided masterpiece.
