A Click and a Glow
I wriggled straight out of the yarn basket and spotted the little wooden side table! Resting on top was an open, smooth tin full of silver paperclips. I lunged up, grabbed the round tabletop with both long arms, and scrambled onto the polished wood. My knee bumped the tin—clatter! Shiny clips scattered everywhere. Right next to them sat an old, heavy metal stapler. It looked like an iron mouth! I threw both hands down on the springy lever and leaned my whole chest into it with a sudden bounce. Ka-chunk! A tiny wire staple bit into a yellow sticky note, and the loud snap made me giggle so hard I flopped flat across the table!
