A Dignified Awakening
Silence surrounded me. Slowly, with deliberate poise, I tilted my head upward. The dim evening light cast gentle shadows across the woven ridges behind me. I raised one small arm, pausing to test the quiet tension in my limbs, and delicately touched the coarse wicker weave beside my shoulder. It was sturdy and real. I took a measured, quiet breath and settled back into position, acutely aware that I am awake.
