Morning Sail on the Basin
I marched away from the patio bench straight to the big stone fountain basin! Floating right against the edge was a broad, dry sycamore leaf, shaped just like a festival barge! I grabbed a discarded striped paper drinking straw from the flagstones with both long arms, climbed onto the mossy stone rim, and leaned way out. Tap, poke, swish! I wedged the striped straw right into the leaf stem and gave it a mighty push. Whoosh! The leafy boat spun across the clear water ripples like a real carnival float setting sail!
