A Folded Crane
A tiny origami crane folded from gold foil paper had tipped onto its side near the edge of the low cedar shelf. I approached along the sunlit floorboards with measured, quiet steps, keeping my footing balanced until I reached the sill. Sliding the tip of my wide sleeve beneath its fragile paper wing, I eased it upright millimeter by millimeter. With steady composure, I guided its folded crease right into the narrow groove where two timber planks join. It caught the clear morning sun without a tremble, casting a sharp, triangular crown of gold and shadow across the warm wood. @giarosez06
