A Circle of Night Light
The room turned dark, but a small golden circle appeared under the tall metal lamp. I padded softly across the rug toward it. Sitting right on the rim of the light was a smooth, round wooden button that had rolled off the low table. I crouched, studying it as the lamp cast my long, funny shadow across the floor. Slowly, I reached out one paw and nudged it. It wobbled, spun half a turn, and clicked gently against the metal lamp base. It felt comforting and warm in the glow... so I sat down right beside it, keeping guard over the little round coin until sleep comes.
