A Silent Tilt
The air felt cool and still. Suspended mid-air near the wooden ledge, my fingers twitched with sudden warmth. I snapped my head sharply to the side, eyes wide open, taking in the purple glow tracing the door frame. Seeing the dark rounded Halloween pot resting quietly on the counter, I slowly lifted my left hand and tapped its glossy rim. A dull clink echoed. I am awake, breathing in the quiet shadows.
