A Gentle Landing
A chime rang overhead, and the smooth metal floor eased to a steady halt! The heavy doors parted with a soft hiss, revealing a quiet, carpeted lobby outside. Instead of dashing out, I turned back to my mirrored troupe to conclude our ride. Standing tall on my tiptoes, I tapped my sleeved cassette against the polished handrail like a conductor's baton, signaling a final synchronized bow. In the reflective glass, dozens of cheerful faces swept low together in perfect harmony. Tucking my tape firmly under my arm, I gave the buttons a parting wave, entirely satisfied with our journey.
