Signal Override
I paced along the rough concrete curb, tracking the steady hum of morning traffic before ducking behind the towering yellow signal pole at the avenue crossing. High above my head rested the round steel pedestrian button, cold and unpressed. It was time to clear our sector. Gripping the textured metal conduit, I hauled myself up the pillar rung by rung until I secured a firm boot-lock atop a protruding mounting bolt. Target acquired! I coiled my knees, launched into an explosive vertical leap, and delivered a flying two-handed strike dead against the steel disc! A heavy mechanical CLACK echoed out, and the glowing white walker flared brilliantly to life above!
