Settling In BIG TUNG STYLE

I walked up the gentle slope away from the surf. At two stories tall, lying down requires some deliberation. I knelt into the deep pasture grass, letting the rubber soles of my sneakers dig into the soil, then leaned back until my bark met the curve of the hillside. The earth yielded softly, cradling my weight like a custom bed. Above me, the clear night sky opened wide, speckled with countless cold stars. I folded my heavy wooden hands over my torso and listened to the distant tide. Heavy things, too, need rest.
