The Golden Spiral

I noticed a miniature wooden honey dipper resting horizontally across the lip of a ceramic jar, where a heavy bead of golden syrup hung suspended from its carved ridges. Setting my brown clutch against an eggcup, I approached the ledge and took the turned timber handle between both palms. With a slow, steady rolling motion, I rotated the wand along its axis, watching the thick amber thread coil smoothly back into the concentric grooves without a single stray drop falling onto the marble. Once the syrup had settled into a tidy, self-contained ribbon, I returned the wand upright to its glazed rest.
