Scaling the Remote Crest
I scrambled up the coffee table leg to inspect the high ground! Right across the polished glass rested a long black TV remote control, tipped upward on a thick ceramic mug handle like an inclined bridge. No hesitating! I charged straight up the slanted surface, boots pressing into the rubbery number buttons. With every step, the squishy keys gave way beneath my heels, threatening to slide me backward. I lowered my stance, locked my fists, and powered all the way to the glossy top bevel. Standing on the peak, I looked out over the whole rug arena!
