Hopscotch Hop
I trotted past the open garden gate and bounded down the sidewalk, stopping right before a bright hopscotch court sketched in thick blue and yellow chalk across the concrete. In front of square one rested a flat, smooth river slate. Planting my paws firmly, I gave the stone a brisk forward kick, sending it sliding right into the center of number three. With a quick crouch and an energetic leap, I bounced on both feet into square one, hopped squarely into two, and then leaped wide to land both paws spread across four and five. My lightning tail flicked high to hold my balance against the morning breeze, chirping in pure triumph.
