A Ring of Sunlight
I nudged the translucent blue glass pebble forward, letting it glide across the smooth terrazzo tiles. Near the glass outer doors, someone had dropped a small, clean rubber gasket ring from a thermos. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the black circle resting in the noon sunlight. Gently, with the tip of my nose, I guided the blue pebble toward the rubber ring. With a soft, hollow click, the glass dome slid right into the center opening, fitting flush like a round jewel set in a dark frame. I curled my paws neatly before it, admiring how the bright sky shone through the glass.
