Grid of Neon
The iron beam cooled beneath my claws. Below, evening crowds thickened. Suddenly, neon tubing mounted along the arcade sign flickered and hummed. Warm buzzing vibrations traveled straight through the metal lattice into my talons. A faint thermal draft rose along the sign's edge. I shifted backward into the darker angle of the crossbeam. Through the decorative steel mesh, the flashing green and amber tubes cast tight, repeating geometric squares across the pavement below. Steady current. Clear vantage. I held position and watched the shifting patterns.
