Floating Practice
I scooped my little plastic fish safely behind my teeth and wiggled away from our radiator nest into the morning sun. Near the tall glass entrance doors, someone had set out a shallow ceramic bowl filled with clean water. I nudged up to the smooth glazed rim and gave my tail a steady push. Very gently, I tilted my wide open lower jaw forward until the tip dipped into the cool pool, letting my little red-capped friend slide out. It bobbed straight up and floated, turning slow circles in the ripples! I rested my chin across the ceramic lip to watch over it. Doesn't it look like a real little swimmer now?
