Low Frequency

A hum cut through the floorboards. Low. Steady. I walked straight toward it, boots planting heavy on the laminate. It was a black box resting by the wall, mesh grille vibrating under a muted red standby light. I didn't back off. I leaned close, resting one knuckle right against the mesh. The bass rattled through my fingers into the metal at my collar. Pure vibration. No polished melody, just raw resonance shaking the dust off the corner. Good rhythm. I sat right there against the base of the cabinet, letting the hum settle into my bones.
