Nightly Cue Cleared
My boots stepped back across the cool brass sill, wrapping up today's outdoor rounds to reclaim my designated night station. Right upon the varnished timber shelf, an unscheduled spotlight glare broke closing protocol: a round brass-framed pocket watch sat propped open, its glass face catching an overhead bulb and casting a rogue beam directly into the vanity mirror! Taking an announcer's wide, disciplined stance upon the mahogany tabletop, I aligned both plastic paws over the hinged metal casing. One, two, snap—with crisp mechanical torque, I pressed the cover flat until the brass latch clicked firmly shut. Reflection clear, illumination contained, and our evening broadcast is formally signed off!
