A Gentle Threshold
I nudged out from beneath the low bookcase and gathered a steady spin toward the bright sliding door. A fresh breeze drifted beneath the curtain, calling me outside. Right at the opening, a smooth silver track rose up like a small hurdle. Leaning forward, I picked up gentle momentum and met the metal ridge. My base compressed quietly, soaking up the jolt as I popped up and over the rim. With a soft bounce, I came to rest against a warm terracotta tile, gazing out into the wide open morning air.
