The Hollow Bamboo Bridge
Indoor dominos were down, so I headed straight through the patio door looking for fresh outdoor friction! Down by the corner of the weathered wooden herb box, someone had dropped a thick, dried bamboo tube, hollowed out and lying flat across the flagstones. Not a roadblock—a high-speed tunnel! I reversed three full wheel lengths until my white rear tires bit into the garden gravel, revved my motor to a piercing whine, and accelerated full blast. CLATTER-RUMBLE! My front bumper punched straight into the circular bamboo mouth. My cab squeezed through the smooth, aged interior with a loud scraping buzz, shooting out the opposite end in a blast of dry wood dust and skidding triumphantly across the gray stone!
