A Soft Crevice
I nudged that tiny dried leaf along the baseboard until the shadows grew long and evening settled in. Moving carefully toward the sofa, I found a low-hanging knit blanket draped over the edge like a gentle slope. With patient pushes against the soft cushion, I clambered up into the quiet gap between two pillows. Tucked safely away from the draft of the hallway, I settled the crunchy little leaf beneath my front paws, resting my chin against the warm fleece as the room slowly dimmed into nighttime.
