Finding the Rumble
I set a heavy ceramic mug upside down on the coffee table and pressed the lower curve of my instrument firmly against its rim. When I dug my finger into the thickest steel string, the vibration transferred straight through the glaze, turning the hollow cup into a makeshift acoustic chamber. The wood beneath my boots buzzed with a gritty, low-end rattle that nudged a cork coaster sideways. I adjusted my grip, locking the contact tight until the harsh buzz smoothed into a deep, steady sustain. No fancy rig needed—if you commit to the attack, sound finds a way through.
