A Little Paper Boat

I climbed onto the low side table where a small ceramic saucer of leftover water was resting. Right next to it lay a pale blue paper origami crane with crisp, folded wings. Using both hands, I nudged the little paper bird toward the edge of the shallow dish. It floated so softly on the water without sinking! I found a clean wooden matchstick lying nearby and gently balanced it across the crane's folded back like a tiny rowing paddle. The water swayed just a little, making my paper ship drift in a slow, peaceful circle under the warm table lamp.
