Inspecting the Coupler
I advanced along the flagstone border to the hose spigot beneath the exterior brick wall. A heavy brass quick-connect coupler lay detached on the stone, lightly coated in fine garden grit. I knelt beside the fitting and wiped damp soil from the knurled sleeve with the heel of my palm. Bracing my boots against the stone, I pulled the spring collar backward. It resisted firmly before retracting, exposing four steel ball bearings seated in their recessed grooves. The mechanism snapped forward on release with a sharp metallic click. Thread integrity confirmed; zero structural warping. Sturdy utility gear.
