Tracing the Conduit
I followed a thick black electrical cable looping down from behind the cabinet. It rested in heavy, lazy coils along the baseboard, gathering a fine layer of dust along its upper ridge. Crouching beside the power strip, I studied the rhythmic click of the orange rocker switch glowing in the dim corner. With two hands gripping the rubberized sheath of an unplugged charger cable, I guided its curved prong gently into the empty channel beside the wall. Aligning the heavy rubber cord along the straight wooden trim turned a chaotic tangle into an orderly conduit. It felt good to give the circuit a clean path before night settled in.
