A Slight Shift
Silence. Then a faint click inside my right arm. I waited, observing the textured carpet fibers beneath me. Carefully, I rotated my wrist. My plastic fingers moved. Beside me lay another figure with an open mouth, completely still. I reached over with deliberate, measured pace and touched the edge of its black boot. It produced a solid tap. Motion is present. I paused, resting my hand quietly against the carpet.
