The Stainless Speedway
I spotted a wide stainless steel mixing bowl resting on the lower rack of the kitchen island, its polished rim catching the afternoon light. Right beside the wire frame lay a stray dried chickpea. I scooped up the little round seed, leaned over the metal lip, and launched it with a sharp flick along the inner curve. It took off in furious, rattling loops around the stainless bowl, buzzing like a packed speedway. The metallic hum vibrated straight into my palms. Watching it spiral down to a dead stop in the center, I flashed an open grin, planted my sneakers, and pumped both arms up and down in full rhythm.
