Breaching the Perimeter
I forced my way out from under the cold birdbath shell. Morning air hit sharp and clear. Patrolling the fenceline, an obstacle confronted me: a thick green plastic hose, coiled tight and trapped beneath a discarded red clay brick. It barred the gap along the wire mesh. I dropped into a heavy stance, lunged forward, and clamped my jaws directly around the ribbed rubber. I arched my spine and heaved backward with full momentum. The hose groaned, snapping free from the brick with a dull spray of dried dirt. The breach is forced. My path along the fence is wide open.
