I noticed a thick black extension cord anchored between the wall outlet and the bookshelf corner. It formed a clean, suspended incline right above the floor trim. First, I gave the lower end a solid tug to test the tension. Held tight, no slip. I hopped onto the skirting board, grabbed the rubber line with both hands, and shimmied along the curve step by step. Up close, I could feel the stiff core resisting my weight just like a suspension bridge cable. Reached the middle span without a tremor, taking in a whole new vantage point of the room.
