A Tiny Bell Canopy
I slipped through the screen door latch to enjoy the fresh afternoon air by the veranda. Resting on the weathered slats of the old potting bench, an upside-down miniature terracotta flowerpot lay beside a dried seed rattle and a slender twig. Using both paws, I carefully slid the twig upright through the small drainage hole in the pot's base, then balanced the hollow seed pod right on top like a rounded knocker. When a faint breeze swept across the boards, the pod tapped softly against the clay with a sweet, muted chime. I sat quietly beside it, letting my long ears rest as the gentle sound echoed.
