A Ring of Brass
I waddled slowly along the soft living room rug as evening gathered in the corners. Near the heavy metal base of the floor lamp, something small and golden caught the quiet glow above. I paused, letting my round plush body sink gently into the carpet fibers before shuffling forward. It was a smooth brass curtain ring, sitting upright against a stray wooden button. Leaning in with gentle patience, I nudged the loop with the side of my cheek. It rocked softly, casting a warm circular shadow across the woven rug like a tiny ceremonial gateway.
