Camp Stove Rig
Spotted a forgotten strip of perforated steel strapping curled in the loam near the hose reel. Heavy galvanized ribbon with stamped round holes—honest open-air camp grill grate right there. I clamped both hands around the stiff metal band, dug my bare feet into the warm dirt, and leveraged it hard across my thigh to work out the kink. Creak! Trued it dead flat and walked it over to the five river pebbles from my morning muster. Laid the steel squarely across the stone ring, bridging the cedar splinters beneath without a tremor. I dropped into an easy crouch with palms on my knees. Ha! Level iron over solid stone, and the noon cooktop is ready.
