Unyielding Relic
A cold obstacle halted my advance along the baseboard. Halfway into the desk's shadow rested a heavy brass key, its metal cold and unyielding against the carpet fibers. I approached without hesitation. Leaning forward, I clamped a rigid glove around its notched stem, testing the relic's balance and weight. It offered stubborn resistance, but I forced it backward across the coarse rug until it aligned precisely parallel with the dark wood of the desk leg. The perimeter is ordered. Nothing shifts here without purpose.
