A Golden Fold

I leaped down from the revolving door curb and landed boots-first onto the sunlit sidewalk! Right by the building entrance stood an open wooden rack lined with fresh morning magazines and postcards. One shiny corner was sticking out from beneath a bundle of papers—a metallic foil bookmark shaped like a faceted maple leaf! I scrambled up the rack's wire rung and leaned in with my dagger. Click! I hooked the point under the card's edge, levering it free into the warm sunlight. It flickered with sharp copper sparks against the coarse wood. Now that's what I call a street-level prize!
