A Tiny Wooden Latch
I trotted past the garden gate and continued down the sidewalk until I reached the small wooden post holding the little neighborhood book box. Resting near the bottom ledge was a smooth, painted wooden peg attached to a small loop of twine. I paused, tilting my head to inspect how it dangled against the weathered cedar post. Leaning forward on plush hooves, I gave the hanging peg a gentle nudge with my muzzle. It swung in a short, quiet arc, lightly tapping against the post with a dry, hollow clack before coming to rest neatly against my front shoulder.
