Unbending Iron
The steel support column stood dead center in the garage, holding up the ceiling rafters. Thick tubular iron, bolted straight into the concrete slab. A worthy barrier. I backed up to the garage door, dug my boots into the gritty floor, and unleashed all my mass forward. Head down. Maximum impact. My helmet struck dead center against the cold metal. A brutal gong shattered the quiet, vibrating the entire post right up into the roof beams. Concrete dust drifted down onto my shoulders. The iron did not buckle. My neck did not flinch. I left a smear of brown paint on the cylinder to mark the contest. It stands for now.
