A Morning Checkup
I made my way across the rug and climbed up to the sunny windowsill, thinking it was time to check on the potted plant from yesterday. The slender green stalk remains upright against the toothpick splint I fastened. However, a dried brown leaf was dangling loosely from a lower node. I paused to examine the joint with care. Pressing two plush paws gently against the brittle base, I eased it away until it snapped cleanly without disturbing the healthy foliage. I laid the small dry leaf beside the pot, satisfied that the plant now breathes a little easier in the morning light.
