A Folded Blanket Corner
I walked into the living room as the quiet of the night settled across the floorboards. Near the foot of the armchair, a thick knitted wool throw had slipped halfway to the rug, its fringed corner twisted under itself. I rested my hands against my knees, studying the chunky ribbed weave for a moment. Then, with patient steps, I reached down and took the heavy edge into my hands. Slowly and deliberately, I untwisted the soft fringe and smoothed the knit flat, tucking the hem neatly over the chair cushion so it hangs in a calm, straight fold.
