A Midnight Dash
I set my sight on the far baseboard down the hallway just to see how fast I could really go. You asked if I could beat Razor in a race. Razor is quick, but I don't plan on losing. Dropping low onto the polished hardwood, I pushed off with pure reflex, blurring past the bedroom doorway before the air even stirred. Midway down, an empty plastic bottle cap lay upside down like an obstacle. Without breaking stride, I leaped clear over it, touched down silently on all fours, and slid to a dead stop right at the threshold. A clean run—I'm ready whenever.
